What to Bring
Packing for Inpatient Treatment
Rolling Hills Hospital has a responsibility to provide a secure, comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff. To create this environment, we’ve outlined a recommended packing list to promote a more comfortable stay. We’ve also listed out which items are not acceptable and should be left at home. As you review the lists below, feel free to reach out to Rolling Hills Hospital for assistance. If there are items you are unsure of, a staff member will let you know whether or not it is an acceptable item.
RECOMMENDED PACKING LIST
Please note that items cannot contain strings or rope-like materials. Washer/dryer units are available for patients, so please keep items limited to the quantities outlined.
- Three outfits consisting of comfortable clothes, like sweatshirts, sweatpants and t-shirts
- Night clothes and undergarments (bras cannot have underwire)
- Comfortable slippers or shoes (preferably slip-on)
- Hygiene products will be provided during your stay
- A journal, books or magazines (cannot have staples or metal rings)
- Items that will provide you comfort, such as a picture of a loved one (no glass or frame)
- Insurance card, driver’s license (or proof of identification) and Social Security Card
CONTRABAND & PROHIBITED ITEMS
These items will not be accepted and are encouraged to be left at home. If any of these items are brought to the hospital, they will be removed and placed in a secure area until the patient is discharged. This list is not exhaustive and is subject to change, so other items may be deemed inappropriate on a case by case basis. Rolling Hills Hospital is not responsible for misplaced items or valuables.
- Shoes with shoelaces
- Blankets, pillows and stuffed animals
- Belts of any kind
- Spiked heels or boots (steel toe, metal tips, etc.)
- Knives, fingernail files, nail clippers, scissors and any other items with sharp points
- Needles or pins
- Aerosol spray cans
- Paracord bracelets or necklaces
- Hairdryers & curling irons
- Glass objects, such as mirrors
- Alcohol-based cleaners or toiletry items (like mouthwash, astringents, etc.)
- Makeup
- Jewelry (encouraged to be left at home, and body piercings must be removed)
- Cigarettes, cigars, lighters/matches, e-Cigarettes and any drug paraphernalia
- Money, cell phones and car keys
- Musical instruments
- Firearms and ammunition
- Any electrical equipment or items with cords, such as computers, tablets, radios, music players, DVDs, recorders and cameras
